Worst Chess Book Ever

37 Great Games of Chess by FM David Watts – read the review by Geoff Chandler HERE…it is hilarious.  Seriously, you have to read it!! Some gem comments from Chandler:

It is without a doubt the worst chess book ever written.

The number 37, according to the author, was chosen because there are 32 chess pieces and he added five more games because he felt they could not be left out. He’s obviously an idiot. He should have left out all 37 and not bothered.

The whole book is a feast of factual errors.

....his notes are ridiculous...He has mangled them through a computer.

He slips into first name mode when mauling Fischer - Spassky 1972 and succeeds in mixing up the colours in the notes so we have Boris Fischer playing White and Bobby Spassky playing Black.

...one line betrays weak computer usage because only a weak computer would spit out such Philistine muck.

I’ll say it again, it is the worst Chess Book ever written, avoid it, if you see it destroy it. Just flicking through it will be enough to drive a dog to drink…
